Verification Methodology

Last updated September 21, 2026

Evidence before certainty

The system extracts verifiable claims, searches for primary and authoritative records, compares corroborating and conflicting sources, reconstructs relevant timelines, and explains important limitations.

Verdicts

Assessments use Supported, Mostly supported, Missing context, Misleading, Contradicted, or Unverified. A verdict reflects available evidence for the specific wording—not every possible interpretation of a topic.

Confidence

The confidence score describes the strength, relevance, independence, and consistency of available evidence. It is not a mathematical probability that an event occurred.

Media analysis

Image plausibility and factual accuracy are separate questions. Automated AI-generation or manipulation signals are treated as clues, not conclusive proof. Provenance and independent corroboration remain essential.
